Not Silent This Year

Yesterday, I found out I am a BlogHer Voice of the Year in the category of Perspectives! I am honored to have been selected, and I have to thank Christine from Coffees and Commutes for nominating me. (If you want to know a secret, I wrote her an email and told her we should nominate each other, and that is what we did. Aren’t we cunning?)

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend the BlogHer ’11 Conference in San Diego this year, because it is just too expensive for me to cross the country right now, what with the fancy French drain under a new layer of cement in our basement, and my lack of summer income, and that couples’ vacation I insisted my husband and I go on back in early June. But my spirit will be lurking around any restaurants that serve ice-cold margaritas with salt rims set aside bowls of guacamole and warm tortilla chips. (I must stop writing. I think I may cry.)

And, of course, I’ll be reading about the whole bloody thing on Twitter, because all the ladies who get to go will surely let their voices be heard. (But I’m not resentful. Really. I went last year and had a heck of a good time.)
