Please Give a Warm Welcome to My New Attitude

June 25, 2010

Hello Friends,

Welcome to An Attitude Adjustment’s new look. I’ve been trying to make the best of stay-at-home motherhood with Blogger, but I kept coveting all the neat, clean looks of my friends’ WordPress blogs. So here I am, thankfully.

You may have noticed that my blog was in and out of commission for a few days. I tried to teach myself how to switch my domain name (an attitude adjustment dot com) to the new WordPress site. I taught myself wrong. All kinds of red errors and blue errors with all kinds of weird numbers appeared, which made me have heart palpitations. Then, when I thought I figured it out, I’d try something else, only to get more capital letters, more ERROR! messages, which I took to mean: YOU ARE A COMPLETE MORON, JANA. WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING? I’VE MET DOGS WHO ARE BETTER WITH DNS CODING AND CNAMES THAN YOU ARE. WHO WANTS TO READ YOUR STUPID MOMMY BLOG, ANYWAY?

Finally, I found a phone number for technical support. (People still have those, you know.) The chipper man told me the site would be up and running in about an hour. I breathed a sign of relief. And waited.

And waited. And waited.

It never started working. Luckily, the talented and very wonderful, very generous Sarah at Momalom came to the rescue like a guardian angel of the blogging world, taking time out of her busy day with three kids to fix it for me. Needless to say, I am so happy to know her.

So welcome. Please visit often. And if you’re ever in the mood for a little nostalgia, you can visit my old blog, with the big blue-ish cheerios header my husband helped me design (from way back in January when I entered the blogosphere) at anattitudeadjustment.blogspot.com.

A pleasant attitude to you!

Well done Jana! I’m so glad you sorted it all out. And though you may feel technically inept, you should not, because look at you, over here on Wordpress, long before I! Enjoy your new home, you know I’ll be by often.

Great job, Jana! Sounds like a lot of work, but you got through it (with a little help) and it looks awesome!

I’m glad you kept a little bit of the Cheerios, too! :-)

It was hard to let the large Cheerios header go. But I did. I’m not a designer, and I couldn’t figure out a way to get a theme I liked and keep the Cheerios. Believe me, I tried. But I’m happy with the look! (Thanks!)

Congrats on the new look! I like the black/white contrast and how clean this is.

Glad you like it, Justine! Now let’s see if I can figure out the rest of Wordpress. (Hmmph!)

Great look. Nice opportunity to read things. I am so not a geek. It takes me FOREVER to undersdtand the technical. Just remember… whether on line or in person, it’s how kind and caring we are that helps us make friends. A new great look is only step one. You’ve got the other sewn up. So never be intimidated.

I like it. I’m planning a move myself soon. Well done for getting it all sorted – it sounds like it was a bit of a nightmare.

Your new site looks great! I would like to switch over to Word Press too but I haven’t found the energy to tackle it yet. Were you able to transfer all of your posts and comments successfully?

Thanks for visiting! It made me pretty tense for a few days, especially when my site wasn’t working. The transfer of comments and posts was the easy part, actually. (Except some of my comments were on Disqus, and they didn’t transfer. Big bummer.)
